Carolyn & Casey – Elm Bank Wellesley Wedding
Carolyn & Casey were introduced by a mutual friend, Erin, at a pre-Thanksgiving party she hosted in November 2011. Casey showed Carolyn a personally labeled MRI of his back, and before long they had made plans for a first date. Shared nerdiness is a beautiful thing!! After years of exploring DC, hiking in Shenandoah and White Mountains National Parks, and traveling together, they are looking forward to their next adventure!
From the beginning, Carolyn told me that her goal was to have as relaxed a wedding as a “Type A” person can possibly have… being super detail-oriented myself, I assured her that she didn’t need to worry – that’s why we plan ahead and ask all the important questions ahead of time!! On the day, Carolyn and Casey were both incredibly punctual arriving to Elm Bank, and the getting ready went off without a hitch.
We were fortunate enough to have a day of sunshine surrounded by cold, rainy days before and after, so we were able to do separate portraits outside before the ceremony. There’s never a dull moment when watching the weather for a wedding in New England! The flower girls were shy, but excited for their Aunt Carolyn!
Carolyn & Casey said their vows in the Goddess Garden at Elm Bank, with the sun streaming in and fragrant flowers wafting their scents towards the guests. Carolyn’s veil blew gently in the breeze as her childhood friend led them through the ceremony.
After family photos and some portraits next to the mansion, Carolyn & Casey were eager to explore the gardens, and we found some early blossoms even though this spring season has felt so delayed. I love the spot at Elm Bank towards the back of Wheezy’s Garden – the bird feeders are so whimsical! Casey was a champ, staying patient even though portraits aren’t his favorite activity. Fortunately, he was with his favorite person, so that helped <3
Once all the guests were inside, Carolyn & Casey’s family and friends got the reception kicked off with some very heartfelt toasts and dances. The dance they had with their grandparents was so special.
By the time that we left, everyone was kicking up their heels on the dance floor. Everything had gone off smoothly, from the weather to the cupcakes on the dessert table. Well done, Carolyn & Casey, I’m so glad we could be there to help make your day exactly what you’d hoped!!
